About the Artist ~ Kristin Gross

I love transforming pieces into a whole using my own two hands and my eclectic instincts. When I work with my hands, I am reminded that not everything I do has to be cerebral, but that I can work from my gut and let the inner creativity pour out into my designs. As a teenager, I began exploring my creative side by dabbling with several artistic mediums. While teaching myself the crafts of jewelry design, knitting and sewing, I found that my true passion was in creating wearable art.

By mixing the expected and the unexpected in my jewelry, handbags and other accessories, I am able to fashion unique works of art that share my creative vision with others. I enjoy designing with traditional and contemporary styles in mind and I feel the diversity of my pieces, in both material and design, is a reflection of the many sides of me. One thing all of my works share in common is that I always strive for the balance of form and function that lets me know a piece is complete.

Currently, my collections include hand knit purses, recycled fabric purses, handknit scarves and jewelry made with new and recycled goods. I'm always on the lookout for interesting materials and some of my best finds come from thrift stores and rummage sales. Because all of my creations are either one-of-a-kind or extremely limited edition, incorporating found items helps contribute to the distinct identity of each piece.
